11 Top Racing Games for Oculus Quest 2 in 2022

Zooming around in a digital world gives a kick that’s hard to beat. If the action gets intense, you might just believe you’re feeling that breeze slap against your skin and your heartbeat picking up speed.

So whether you’re a fan of racing games or looking to try something new on your Oculus Quest or Quest 2, you’ve come to the right place!

In this article, I’m going to be talking about my top picks for the best racing games for the Oculus Quest and Quest 2. I know “racing” can be anything from jet planes to people with four legs, but for the sake of this article, I’m going to be keeping this list to good old-fashioned car racing, or some equivalent!

Without further ado, let`s dive in!

RACING GAMES NATIVE TO OCULUS QUEST & QUEST 2

With more resources being poured into developing games for the Oculus Store, the VR library for racing games is expanding!

1) Mini Motor Racing X

Mini Motor Racing is unanimously one of the best racing games to hit the VR market! The standout feature of this game is that you can see the efforts put into making this game a worthwhile experience.

It is essentially a go-kart racing experience, but is packed with tons of features such as first-person and third-person camera angles, enhanced graphics for the Quest 2, customization options, and over 50 super fun maps!

Mini Motor Racing X is fully multiplayer, letting you take the wheel in online races with up to 4 of your buddies, and also a fully co-op campaign mode! The online community also showed signs of being a pretty decent place to be.

The game is available for $24.99 on the Oculus Store. Sounds pricey? Nobody in the reviews seems to regret buying it!

2) Dash Dash World

Dash Dash World is a game that tries really hard to be a Mario Kart for the VR community. Let’s be honest though, Mario Kart is in a league of its own. Still, this game adds a shooter element to competitive racing and brings a fresh take on the full-hand driving genre.

With an offline story mode, more than 100 hours of content, and interestingly designed tracks, Dash Dash world has attracted more than just a few eyes. What really makes this game stand out is the support it receives from the developers and community alike. There are regularly hosted tournaments and fresh updates coming out fairly regularly.

The developers have also gone the extra mile when it comes to multiplayer, letting you race up to 8 of your friends. There’s also the welcome inclusion of memes and dance emotes – because why not! Dash Dash World supports cross-platform gameplay, motion sickness options, and full customizability of your in-game content for a truly personalized feel!

Get the game now on the Oculus Store for $24.99.

3) Void Racer Extreme

Void Racer Extreme attempts to take a stroll into the realm of futuristic VR racing games. You charge the gears of a Tron-inspired light cycle as you zip and swerve through gravity-defying race tracks!

The game promises over 100 single-player racing tracks, a bunch of different game modes giving you different ways to play – especially with each bike in the game having its own characteristics for different playing styles! It also includes a 4-player online multiplayer mode, letting you test your talents against players from all across the globe.

This game makes it onto my list because it’s pretty decent value for money at $9.99 on the Oculus Store. Understandably, some people do have issues with it being not the most immersive and content-filed game out there, so be sure to check out the video for a more detailed review!

Overall, Void Racer Extreme is an exhilarating futuristic VR experience!

4) Death Lap

When hardcore and heavy metal music combine for a racing game, you get Death Lap! Rather than being your typical race to the finish line, Death Lap puts you in the driver’s seat of a fanatic yet highly energizing racing shooter experience.

As the name suggests, your races are battles to the death with villains! Use various weapons and powers in your arsenal to win your freedom! The music is loud, the action is exciting, and having everything in VR just makes it all so much more thrilling.

Although the game claims to support multiplayer mode, gamers have mentioned that there aren’t many people online to play against. So mostly you’re stuck with AI opponents in these same maps. Another reported problem is the lack of replay value and content in the game. However, this game makes it to my list because for what it does offer, it definitely delivers!

You can get Death Lap for $19.99 on the Oculus Store, but I would strongly recommend waiting for a sale so you can feel like you got your money’s worth!

5) VR Karts: Sprints

Another game similar to what you would expect from Mario Kart, VR Karts: Sprints focuses on an old-school approach to racing: keep it simple and fun!

You essentially race with opponents in a go-kart, with full immersion and simple VR graphics. Now, don’t let the reviews of the game fool you into skipping it entirely. The negative reviews have mostly been posted because of people complaining about motion sickness in the game. For more experienced VR users, this was not much of an issue and they really enjoyed the game!

There’s plenty in terms of content. From online multiplayer to Kart customization and multiple game modes, VR Karts: Sprints would be ideal for a casual racing game. If you want to relive some Mario Kart nostalgia, then this game won’t be stopping you!

You can get it for $14.99 on the Oculus Store.

RACING GAMES FOR OCULUS QUEST 2 VIA SIDELOADING AND APP LAB

Sideloading is a handy little technique that lets us play third-party or “unofficial” games on our beloved Oculus Quest and Quest 2 headsets. The games are usually safe to download, and require manual installation onto your headset.

Recognizing the potential of the growing Sidequest library, the treasure trove for sideloading games, and VR enthusiasts here, Oculus has launched its own platform known as App Lab. Developers can choose to upload their games and apps onto App Lab, which is governed by Oculus and is perhaps the closest we’ve ever gotten to officially getting third-party VR games!

If the game is on App Lab, you can download it just like you would from the Oculus Store. However, if the game needs to be sideloaded, check out this article for more information on how to do just that!

Now let’s talk about the best racing games from this extensive and ever-increasing library!

6) V-Speedway

An incredibly fun and immersive game, V-Speedway takes full advantage of what it means to develop a simple and fun game. In terms of gameplay, you’re essentially driving a simple car across a highway and racing against numerous opponents across winding tracks.

Being a Sidequest game, it is constantly under development and improvement. This certainly doesn’t mean the game is currently unfinished. With immersive sound design and smooth controls, V-Speedway is certainly worth a try!

Although the game currently doesn’t support multiplayer, there’s a good chance a future update will bring us just that!

You can find V-Speedway from Oculus Store (App Lab)

7) MarineVerse Cup – App Lab

For anybody with a love for the sea somewhere in their hearts, or those just curious, MarineVerse Cup delivers in all the right areas when it comes to a VR sailing racing game!

This is the only boating game on this list, but it makes sure it deserves a spot because of features such as beautiful scenery rendering, accurate sound effects, and a variety of boats to choose from!

Perhaps the biggest plus point of the MarineVerse Cup is that it actually teaches you how to sail! With the added pressure of the race, you’re likely to learn while you enjoy.

MarinVerse Cup grants you access to multiplayer through the purchase of a “Sailing Pass”, but you can always interact with a very helpful community of sailors and the like through their discord and social chat servers.

Download the game for $19.99 via App Lab and sail to victory!

8) PocketRacer

A game that many consider to be highly underrated, PocketRacer is a creative racing game where players can make their own tracks and then race on them! The game makes up what it lacks in graphics with creativity and customization. A recent update allows you to play on tracks made by other players too!

The level of VR immersion kicks off with the creativity shown in tracks created by players. The creation tool is also easy to use and offers plenty of variety! However, multiplayer in this game is limited to racing ghosts of other players.

From multiple gameplay modes to racing against players and your own best times, PocketRacer packs a great deal of value for money – especially when you know that you can get it for free via Sidequest!

Oculus Link is a built-in feature of your Quest and Quest 2 that allows you to link up your PC to your VR headset and seamlessly stream PC content to it directly

Here are some of the best games that are a must-try when you have a decent gaming computer to turn your Quest 2 into a PC VR headset and run the games.

9) Project Cars 2

From stunning visuals to amazing gameplay and a wonderful VR experience, Project Cars 2 makes the most of what a PC can do for VR!

The realism is taken to the next level with 24-hour atmospheric changes, vehicle progression, and true-to-life handling! The game also supports a full multiplayer mode!

Get the game for $59.99 on Steam!

10) Assetto Corsa

Assetto Corsa pushes the boundaries of VR modes in games when it produces incredibly stunning detail in its game. With full VR support and realistic physics, the experience is as close as you can get to being in the driver’s seat of a racing event!

Multiple game modes, online multiplayer, and realistic cars are all available on Steam.

11) iRacing

Another amazing entry for PCVR gaming is iRacing, a truly premium and adrenaline-pumping racing experience!

With numerous display modes, a uniquely catchy soundtrack, multiplayer support, and complete VR capabilities, iRacing is definitely a game not to be missed!

The game operates on a subscription setup, where you purchase a package to access the multiple “Seasons” content the game spans over. Subscriptions start form $9.99 per month on Steam.

BONUS – Regatta VR

If you liked MarineVerse Cup, chances are you’re going to love playing Regatta VR through Oculus Link! It’s everything from MarinVerse Cup, including the multiplayer mode, but with all of it much more detailed and expansive!

Get the highly positively reviewed game for $10.49 on Steam!

And that’s all folks for this list. Happy racing on your Quest or Quest 2!
