Quest 2 Controller Not Pairing? This Is Why…

Normally the Quest 2 controller pairing process should complete in a couple of seconds after you have pressed the buttons provided in the Oculus mobile app pairing instructions.

If yours didn’t and you are stuck at the pairing screen then don’t worry – all hope is not lost!

The most common reason why the Quest 2 controller is not pairing successfully is that the controller is not turned on (not receiving power from the battery). Check that the battery is inserted correctly and is fully charged.

It might also be the case that you have done everything correctly and it’s actually the weakened spring on the controller battery contact that fails to properly complete the electric circuit. I have discussed these and other troubleshooting steps in my previous article.

Can your Pair Quest 2 Controller without Oculus Phone App?

Unfortunately, it is not possible to pair Quest 2 controllers without the Oculus mobile app. The app is required for pairing the controllers both during the headset initial setup as well as when you have purchased and want to pair a new controller.

But Oculus (Meta) has indeed shown over time that the product and the platform are being improved constantly. So who knows, pairing controllers straight from the headset might become a reality someday.

Anyway, that is all from me. I hope you found the article useful and got your Quest 2 controller successfully paired! Happy VR adventures!
